| The public services are critically necessary safety services. They absolutely need to be on-going – police, fire, emergency services and a clear plan should be widely disseminated before any start of the modernization / mixed use development of the site. | I have committed to 5000 new units in Ward 1 and at least a quarter of those should be social housing. City owned sites like this should serve as a role model as to what can be achieved. I helped achieve mixed use development in downtown – converting office to residential, retail, arts and entertainment uses. Ward 1’s corridors an even better opportunity in my opinion to achieve dynamic mixed use that meets critical needs for housing inclusive of affordable housing, new retail, public services such as libraries or recreation centers and much needed retail which can bring jobs services vitality and safety to the Ward. My track record in downtown shows what can be achieved – think large, outside the box and make it happen. |
