[<\/span><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/news\/senate-passes-rfk-stadium-land-bill-giving-commanders-major-off-the-field-win\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Source: NFL.com<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-size: large;\">]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">In stark contrast <span style=\"font-size: large;\">&#8212;<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b><a href=\"https:\/\/lims.dccouncil.gov\/Legislation\/B25-0191\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">D.C.&#8217;s <\/a><\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/lims.dccouncil.gov\/Legislation\/B25-0191\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Social Housing bill<\/b><\/a> \u2014 a transformative initiative aimed at creating a citywide ecology of truly affordable, mixed-income, municipally owned housing \u2014 <b>has been sacked, languishing in legislative limbo <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=KHgXxAMKiUg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">since a marathon 11-hour hearing in November 2022<\/a>.<\/b> That was when more than 150 residents signed up to testify in overwhelming support, yet social housing has remained inexplicably stalled in two D.C. Council committees for over two years while blowout big-ticket stadiums deals are fast-tracked in a matter of months.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">The response so far <\/span>&#8212;\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Four of the 12 members of the council were present during the mayor&#8217;s announcement. At-Large Councilmembers Anita Bonds and Kenyan McDuffie, Ward 2 Councilmember Brooke Pinto, and Ward 7 Councilmember Wendell Felder all signaled to be in favor of the project. [<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/jX2Hk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Source: WaPo<\/a>]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\">While Council Chairman, Phil Mendelson, Ward 1 CM, Brianne Nadeau, and Ward 6 Councilmember, Charles Allen have expressed opposition to public funding for the stadium.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Despite these budget woes that Bowser says are a fabricated crisis created by Congress, she sees no reason why the DC Council cannot make a decision by the July deadline. That starts with ensuring municipally-owned, self-sustaining, <\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>truly affordable <\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>social housing is included and at scale. Otherwise, this will just be another fleecing of the public for fleeting moments of sky-high ticket prices, $10 hot dogs, and empty promises.&#8221;<\/i><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><b>A Crisis of Priorities<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\">As the District faces a deepening housing affordability crisis, residents are left asking: <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b><i>How can anyone on the D.C.
