Zoning Commissioners <a href=\"https:\/\/app.dcoz.dc.gov\/Home\/ViewCase?case_id=23-02\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">will discuss the case<\/a> and may choose to approve an unprecedented 10+ story rezoning proposal.\u00a0 If approved, the decision paves the way for Ward One Councilmember Brianne Nadeau to push the privatization of the public air rights as a gift for a to-be-named developer to build a high-rise mostly luxury residential mixed use building.<br \/>\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/div>\n<p> <span style=\"font-size:large\"><br \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align:center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/savedcpublicland.org\/the1617project\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Screenshot_2024-07-11_11-18-15.png\" alt=\"Screenshot_2024-07-11_11-18-15.png\" width=\"468\" height=\"257\"><\/div>\n<p> <\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size:large\">Recently, Councilmember Nadeau publicly said &#8220;I wish people would stop with the narrative that upzoning displaces people because it&#39;s just wrong &#8230; it&#39;s not a black issue, it&#39;s not a white issue, it&#39;s a human issue.&#8221; <b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=pgDNk0Sz1Xc\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=pgDNk0Sz1Xc<\/a><br \/><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size:large\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size:large\"><b>Over the past decade, Ward One shows some of the highest displacement of Black residents (25%) from the city.<br \/><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size:large\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size:large\">Nadeau also claimed that &#8220;Upzoning builds more housing and in this case upzoning will build more affordable housing.&#8221;
