DMPED fire sale may continue as Mayor Bowser gets ready to step off stage; Simultaneously multiple Reeves Center development partners fall off the deal.

Here are some recent updates on the Reeves Center, details about the deal are less forth coming:


September 2019

“The District’s Department of General Services will be moved out of the Reeves Center, becoming the first D.C. agency to launch a search for new space since Mayor Muriel Bowser directed officials to prioritize leasing offices east of the Anacostia River.”


June 2023

Reeves CMC Venture Wins Redevelopment of Reeves Center


September 2024

Reeves Center emptied of all the rest of the public agencies that populated the space free of charge. They are moved to a commercial space in NOMA and DMPED has demurred on informing how much each agency is now spending on monthly leases.


February 2026

“The long-planned redevelopment of the Franklin D. Reeves Municipal Center won’t be built all at once. The developer and city officials have split the 535,955-square-foot project into two phases, saying that the new approach will make it easier to finance.”


July 2026

Reeves project moves toward key D.C. vote amid big withdrawals


September 2026

Mayor Bowser begins to move legislation to privatize the Reeves Center site among a boatload of other valuable public properties on her way out the door.
