After nearly 30 hours of hearing time and more than 730 written submissions, the public record in Zoning Case 23-02 is now closed.
Parties in opposition will be submitting further post hearing arguments and documents in the coming weeks and the Zoning Commission has announced they will meet to discuss next steps on May 9, 2024.
The outpouring of local opposition to the luxury upzoning from MU4 to MU10 is undeniable. Also undeniable is the absolute dismissal of community engagement by the Office of Planning especially the lack of outreach to Black neighbors around 1617 U Street, NW.
